Morning Star by Pierce Brown

I had mixed feelings about this read. When I started this series, I could not stand the main character. He whined so much sometimes that I was like when will the whining end. Having said this, with this being book 3 in a trilogy, I found it much more enjoyable than the others in the series. I don't dislike the book, but I probably wouldn't read it again.

The Scammer by Tiffany D. Jackson

Honestly, I feel like I'm the one who got scammed. Hear me out. I love me some Tiffany D. Jackson and I've enjoyed nearly everything I've ever read by her except for this book. Every time I think about this book I get a little heated because what even was this?! This just did not measure up to the style of writing I've become accustomed to when it comes to her work and I was so disappointed. Even when reading the book, I kept going by virtue of her name alone. Would I read Tiffany's work again? Yes. Would I give this book another chance? Absolutely not.

His & Hers by Alice Feeney

I have to be honest. I only read this because everyone was talking about the Netflix series and I felt I had to read the book before I watched anything. I still haven't watched the show, but the book was so good to me. It's fair to mention that this is not a usual genre for me so there weren't any particular things I was looking for. Usually, the biggest hope I have for a book is that I cannot predict the ending and, if I can predict it, it surprises me in some way. The ending for this book surprised me because I had my suspicions about every character and the actual responsible party seemed highly implausible. This was my favorite read of January.

Our Vicious Oaths by N.E. Davenport

I was completely locked in from the beginning. The fantasy definitely took a back seat for me. Now don't get me wrong, I'm usually a story matters over everything kind of girly, but the sex scenes in this book?!?! Baby, they were so good. Every time I think about them, I tuck my hair behind my ear and lower my eyes. I'm blushing writing this. LOL. No, but seriously, if you love a book with some good sex, this one's for you!

This Ends in Embers by Kamilah Cole

This book is a little slow, but it's good. It's the second book in a duology and I knew I didn't want the story to end, so I put off reading this for a long while. There were points where I felt the story wasn't moving fast enough for me, but once things got going and I was fully invested in the story again, I was in. The writing is beautiful and the magic system is a bit different from others I've experienced before. What I think I appreciated more than anything is that it really is a story about sisterhood more than it is a romantasy (don't worry, there is romance in this). I'd read it again.

That's my Q1. Now I want yours. What did you read and what do I need to add to my TBR?
