About

Hey Bookies (pronounced boo-keys, not book-ees)! I'm Tasha.

Tasha, the reader behind One of Your Little Reading Friends, smiling at an event

I learned to read before I ever set foot in a preschool classroom. My mother was not playing about making sure her kid could read, write, and spell. I distinctly remember not being allowed out of the bathtub until I spelled a word correctly for her. Looking back, that was probably the origin story of everything.

Reading has always been a comfort for me. Even when life gets in the way and I go through stretches where I barely pick up a book, I always come back. A reader is just something I am. And if you have ever taken a long break from reading and felt guilty about it, welcome home. You are in the right place.

I have been in Miami since 2014 and I read about two books a month, which is not a lot by some standards and exactly enough by mine. I read widely across fiction including fantasy, thriller, romance, contemporary, and whatever else catches my attention. I have opinions about all of it and I am not shy about sharing them.

This blog exists because reading is better with friends. Not the kind who make you feel bad for not finishing a book or judge you for your genre preferences. The kind who say "oh you have to read this" and mean it, and who will never make you feel bad for not finishing a book.

That is what One of Your Little Reading Friends is. A space where nobody looks down on you for reading romance, or YA, or rereading the same book for the tenth time, or only finishing one book a month. Read what you want, at your own pace, without judgment.

So pull up a chair, Bookie. The yapping starts now.
